Skin care in winter for dry skin:

Winter is here and I personally love winters, beautiful foggy mornings, and cold nights.

The basic problem we are facing during winters is extreme dryness of skin, which leads to various skin issues. I will be addressing a few skin conditions specifically during winters and how to cure them in this article.

1. Choose your face wash wisely, it should not be harsh to your skin and should be as mild as possible, so that it may not exfoliate your skin much leading to further dryness.

2. Never underestimate the water of the sun, So choose a sunscreen which is Spf 30 and in lotion form, as it will protect skin from dryness. If you are traveling to colder places, go for physical sunscreen containing zinc oxide.

3. Moisturizer your skin 2 to 3 times daily, with a cream-based moisturizer having essential lipids, shea butter, oatmeal, or ceramides as it helps in helps in keeping the skin supple.

4. Dry skin leads to a lot of itching so your body is equally important as your face, hence avoid extremely hot showers and moisturize your body after every shower.

5. Winters bring lots of flakes in our scalp as well, due to dryness So, avoid using harsh chemicals, and coloring agents as they further dry the scalp.

6. Avoid using fancy labels available in the market as “Anti-hair fall and anti-dandruff Shampoo,” Stick to basic ZPTO shampoo 2 to 3 times a week along with conditioner.

7. If you love oiling your hair, just use plain coconut oil, a half-hour before Shampoo.

8. Some Skin Conditions flare up during winters, like psoriasis, Atopic dermatitis, Xerosis.

9. Hands and feet need special care during winters as our extremities are more exposed to cold, hence apply 10% urea containing moisturizers over hand and feet to avoid cracking.

10. Lip care is another important issue, avoid using cosmetic lip balms with flavors and harmful chemicals, stick to glycerin-containing creams and ointments for lips, hydrate one's lip, gives suppleness and you can have a beautiful crack free smile.

11. Always hydrate yourself, as much as you can, with 2 liters of water daily, even during winters.

12. For any severe conditions always seek the advice of an expert for all your skin and hair-related issues.

I hope these tips will help you have happy winters.
